Robotics and Material Handling

Custom handlers are our specialty. We have designed and built low cost handlers for high throughput electronic component testing and very sophisticated multi-position Satellite RF component handlers that require temperature controlled environments. We can supply your custom handler for virtually any part package or envelope size.

We routinely create designs with high accuracy positioning requirements such as 3 mils over 12 inches or accuracy better than .01 degrees with 4 axis and 2 degrees of freedom.

DRI has experience with all types of motion control from pick and place robots to pneumatics/hydraulics/vacuum actuators to stepper/servo motors to electrical solenoids. When a precise, delicate touch is needed we design in force feedback for highly accurate control.

Safety is a key concern with all machines. Light curtains, interlock safety switches and dual palm switches, are some of the techniques we use to keep the operating environment safe.

Industrial Control

To check external product quality or to precisely position your product, we design smart vision into your system, or as a stand alone solution.

Automated bar code scanning on the input or output of your handler is easily included as well as laser marking, loose binning, tube binning or bagging.

High Accuaracy Solutions

We are experienced in many ultra critical solutions. For example, we’ve built vacuum leak test systems where the detected differential pressure can be less than .001psi and maintaining constant temperature to fractions of a degree is essential.

Our experience in X-Ray Tomography (X-Ray CT), where movements must be made within ten thousandths, many times using dynamic positioning and control, lends itself to many industries and solutions. X-Ray shielding, electrical and thermal isolation are all critical requirements in X-Ray CT.
